Georgia Mountain Food Bank's mission is to address hunger, health and quality of life by serving those in need. Whether it's distributing food or serving the community through outreach programs, initiatives and resources, GMFB's time to serve is now.
Who We Serve
We currently partner with more than 53 agencies throughout our five county service area of Dawson, Forsyth, Hall, Lumpkin and Union Counties to provide food to those in need. Partner agencies include:
Volunteer staff, with limited resources, operate many of these groups. By shipping food locally and providing delivery services, training classes and a connection to resources and technical assistance, Georgia Mountain Food Bank helps these groups accomplish their mission by operating more effectively and efficiently.
How We Help
Through community partnerships, the Georgia Mountain Food Bank helps to increase food supplies in rural parts of North Georgia, effectively connecting more food to people in need.
Primarily, the food we distribute comes through our partnership with the Atlanta Community Food Bank along with goods donated locally from retailers, manufacturers, distributors and food drives.
Another important community partnership is with our lead supporter, Hollis Transport & Logistics in Flowery Branch. Hollis Transport provides the hub of operations for the Georgia Mountain Food Bank providing office and warehouse space, the use of equipment, transportation, and hundreds of volunteer hours each year.
Volunteers and advocates help us complete our mission of bringing nutritious food to those in need. They are the backbone of the Georgia Mountain Food Bank. Whether giving time or financial resources, the friends of GMFB help us reach people in need and are critical to our success.
