GMFB is joining with other businesses and organizations in Hall County to participate in “hALL IN”, in which we pledge to follow all guidelines and best practices from the CDC and national, state and local officials to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. This community-wide initiative will help keep our community safer and healthier.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Because we serve seniors, children and hungry individuals with potentially compromised immune systems – and work with community partners that are on the front lines of serving these populations – our clients and partners are especially vulnerable to the spread of COVID-19. As a result, we are closely monitoring the situation in partnership with Feeding America and public health authorities and are working proactively to protect the health and safety of our staff, partners, volunteers, and all those we serve while continuing our mission of feeding the hungry.
Many people have reached out to us asking how they can help.
Food and Funds Drives
You can also create a Food and Fund Drive. You can register your drive and find a list of our most needed items on our Food and Fund Drives page.
Start a Virtual Food Drive
Host a virtual food drive to fundraise for our COVID-19 Response Campaign. Through this online tool, you can share and track your progress.
We are so grateful to those who continue to want to do good things for the community during this challenging time. To ensure the safety of volunteers during this time, we want to provide ways that people can contribute to our efforts from their homes.
Write a Note to a Family in Need
We are collecting encouraging notes for seniors, children and families who are struggling during this crisis. As we assemble boxes of emergency food that will be distributed to partner agencies, we would like to include these notes as a way of showing connectedness and support.
You can mail your notes to Georgia Mountain Food Bank:
P.O. Box 233
Gainesville, Ga. 30503
**Please sign the note with your first name(s) only.
Family Bowl-Painting Party
Amazing news! We have reached our 1,000 bowl goal thanks to our fantastic painting coach Sara Oakley and the hundreds of families and individuals who participated in our home-based painting parties. Each year, every individual who purchases a ticket to Empty Bowl receives a hand-painted bowl to take home to remind them of the empty bowls they are helping to fill by contributing to GMFB. With COVID-19, we were not quite sure how we would get all the bowls painted to enable us to meet our goal. But you showed up in a big way to participate in at-home bowl painting activities. We appreciate your involvement in this effort, and we hope you’ll continue to stay engaged with the work we are doing at GMFB–there are so many ways to contribute to our mission. Thank you, Bowl Painters!
We encourage everyone to stay safe during this time. Thank you for your continued support!
