The Dawson Community Food Bank is a ministry of Jesus Name Apostolic Church, which was founded in 1982. Jesus Name Apostolic Church strives to serve everyone that comes to them needing food assistance. They regularly distribute food on Saturdays, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., as well as helping with people in emergency situations. They believe helping the hungry of their community is a ministry that God placed on their hearts.

The biggest challenge Jesus Name Apostolic Church faces is finding money to buy more food to distribute to those in need. One volunteer remembers tearing up when supplying a single mother of three with food and one of the children saying “Mommy now we can eat!”

Jesus Name Apostolic Church believes their partnership with the GMFB has tremendously impacted their operation and the number of people they can serve.

“We thank you so much! We know the effort you put into making all this happen and we really appreciate it,” said Linda Benson, Jesus Name Apostolic Church.
