Empty Bowl – Ambassador Andrew Young Bowl

A respected activist and diplomat, Ambassador Andrew Young was an early leader in the Civil Rights Movement and a close friend of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He went on to serve as a U.S. Congressman from Georgia, and under the Carter administration, he was the Ambassador to the United Nations. He was elected the 55th mayor of Atlanta. In addition to his long career as a public servant, he founded the Andrew Young Foundation, which promotes education, health and human rights in the US, Africa, and the Caribbean, and he continues to serve as a voice for those experiencing injustice, living his life by the “Drum Major Instinct”, a phrase termed by Dr. King. His life’s work and positive impact on our state and our nation will be felt for generations. This very special bowl displays the hands and signature of Ambassador Young and will have unique, historical significance for the winning bidder.
