Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic many food banks have experienced a significant inventory shortage trying to serve more and more individuals in need, and Georgia Mountain Food Bank is no exception. GMFB has experienced about a 50% decrease of inbound food over the past month with the majority of that number being protein items. We have had the good fortune over the years to develop a great friendship with the folks at Perdue Farms, and, WOW, did they come to our rescue! After a brief conversation with contacts at Perdue, they sprang into action and committed to deliver a truckload of chicken items to the GMFB facility today. Thank you Bill and Brandi at Perdue for this gift of over 22,000 LBS, you are real heroes….FEEDING HOPE TOGETHER!
