Live Auction: Emmylou Harris

This bowl, signed by Grammy-winning artist Emmylou Harris, carries a story of love, compassion, and service. When Emmylou graciously agreed to contribute to our 2025 Empty Bowl auction, she asked that the bowl’s design incorporate the logo of Bonaparte’s Retreat—the nonprofit dog rescue she founded in 2004 in memory of her beloved companion, Bonaparte.

For ten years, Bonaparte traveled with Emmylou on the road. She says, “Once you have the experience of having a dog on the road with you, you don’t realize how lonely you’ve been without one.” When Bonaparte passed suddenly, her grief gave rise to something remarkable: a mission to rescue shelter dogs who are most at risk of being overlooked. Today, Bonaparte’s Retreat lovingly cares for senior dogs, large dogs, and those in urgent need of medical attention until they find their forever homes.

Emmylou’s passion for this cause reflects her broader commitment to community—and to helping organizations like Georgia Mountain Food Bank, which serve their communities with compassion and purpose. By signing this bowl, Emmylou Harris has joined us in our mission to “fill the gap” and ensure that no one in north Georgia goes hungry.
