Georgia Mountain Food Bank’s inaugural golf tournament raises funds for over 383,000 meals
The Georgia Mountain Food Bank’s inaugural Greens for Good Golf Tournament reportedly raised enough funds to provide 383,500 meals for people across North Georgia.
According to the food bank, the tournament brought 116 players, sponsors, and community partners together for a day of golf at the Legacy Golf Course at Lanier Islands Resort. Non-profit officials said the tournament marked a new chapter in GMFB’s mission to fight hunger throughout the region.
“Seeing our community come together — not just to play, but to make a real impact — was incredible,” said Georgia Mountain Food Bank Executive Director, Rebecca Thurman. “As demand continues to rise and the availability of donated food from our partners has decreased, we’ve worked tirelessly to fill the growing gaps in food needs. Events like this tournament help ensure we can keep showing up for every neighbor who needs us.”
Funds raised from the tournament directly support GMFB’s programs, partner agencies, mobile pantries, and ongoing efforts to meet the growing needs of families, seniors, and children facing food insecurity.
Following the success of the inaugural event, GMFB announced that the Greens for Good Golf Tournament will return next year on June 2, 2027 at Legacy Golf Course, with more details to be released closer to the event.
