The North Georgia Community Foundation (NGCF) announced that it has awarded $127,500 in grants to five nonprofit organizations across the region.

Abi Carter, Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives at NGCF, expressed the foundation’s enthusiasm for funding projects that will drive meaningful change.

“NGCF Opportunity Grants are an investment in pivotal changes or new ventures which enable organizations to increase their impact to not only individuals they directly serve but also for the broader community,” Carter said. “Without this support, these initiatives may otherwise have remained unrealized due to funding constraints.”

This year’s recipients represent a wide range of causes. Below are the organizations that will receive funding through the Opportunity Grant Program:

  • AMPED Kids Foundation (Hall County, expanding to White County): With this funding, AMPED Kids will be able to expand its music-based therapeutic programming for foster children.
  • The Creative Learning Center (Rabun County): The grant will help the Creative Learning Center enhance its ability to provide infant childcare, as well as crisis care funding for low-income families in Rabun County
  • Georgia Mountain Food Bank (Regional impact): The Client Choice Mobile Market program will use the grant to increase its distribution of fresh, refrigerated and frozen foods (such as fruits, vegetables, dairy and meats) to remote communities that lack access to traditional food pantries.
  • Rape Response (Regional impact): Rape Response will use the funding for a rebranding initiative aimed at overcoming the stigma and harshness surrounding the term “rape,” which often prevents individuals from seeking help. The rebranding will help the organization expand its services and provide greater support for survivors
  • South Enotah Child Advocacy Center (White and Lumpkin counties): With the grant, the Center will be able to open a satellite office in Lumpkin County, providing easier access to trauma-focused therapy and advocacy services for children and families in the area.

Community members are encouraged to donate to this fund to help further the impact of these initiatives. To learn more about making a tax-deductible contribution, contact NGCF at 770-535-7880 or visit ngcf.org/donate.
