  • 20.2 percent of Georgia’s children (under age 18) live in poverty. Georgia is tied with Arizona for the 8th highest child poverty rate in the U.S. (U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey Profile.  2021 estimate)
  • 10.7 percent – Georgia seniors live in poverty. (U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey Profile. 2021)
  • Georgia’s unemployment rate is 3.1%. (Latest data is from February 2023 http://www.bls.gov/lau/.
  • As of 2016, Georgia remains 1 of only 2 states with minimum wage rates under the federal rate of $7.25. (Wyoming is the other state.) http://www.dol.gov/whd/minwage/america.htm. Georgia’s minimum wage is $5.15/hour. (U.S. Dept. of Labor, Employment Standards Admin. 2018)
